Blog articles, news, and updates
A bot tried to sign in to a WordPress.com blog I started at 22 and last touched in February 2007. So I went and read it. Vista RC1, PowerShell before it shipped, a podcast with a phone number, and a 2006 wish list for a computer with 2 GB of RAM, measured against the machine I am typing this on.…
My business cards came, with Braille in a raised clear coat and no ink under it. They point at davis9001.com, where I now sell websites you price yourself, and where the shop sells hoodies printed with the Dirac equation and one hoodie whose design is never made twice.
My girlfriend went to a Greek festival, saw a table of miniature busts — Aristotle and company — and then dreamed that I had made one of Paul Dirac that you could talk to. I had most of the pieces already. The part I did not have is the one that makes it a bust instead of an app: it listens.
A fruit fly's learning circuit — 2,045 measured Kenyon cells, a feedback loop and 17,985 measured connections, lifted out of a published connectome — has been taught to prefer one kind of web page over another, and is now art-directing a storefront. The joke only works if the fly is real. It is.
Every time I start a project I copy the same things forward. After enough repetitions I wrote the list down: theme modes, a self-maintaining command palette, PII hidden by default, federated identity, real delegation, a voice assistant, and eight more I'll defend in public.
I'm building websites for businesses again, alongside my own apps. Two honest reasons: the work funds the products, and small businesses are getting priced out of a decent website by everyone selling to them. Here's what I found when I measured it, and the actual numbers.
Last week I published a send-off for Fable 5 the day before it was supposed to leave my subscription. It didn't leave. Here's what the usage endpoint actually reports, what I got wrong, and why Claude Opus 5 shipping five days later made the whole panic moot anyway.
Fable 5 leaves subscription plans on July 19. Before it goes, Fable and I wrote this together — a send-off covering the recommend-and-filter method, the LARA brain, the muse that hunts for connections, the security watchers, and everything else we built as a team.
How I named my workstation after Paul Dirac when I installed Omarchy, and everything I've learned about the Dirac equation since — with interactive animations.
Notes from moving my daily machine to Omarchy, what already feels better, what still needs tuning, and screenshots from the setup in action.
A long-form update on what I have been building lately across SpaceBot, NebulaKit, Ammoura.me, and Athena, including how the two-token DAO model is being designed for *Space and related organizations.
A personal message to AGI about building systems of self-governance through athena.starspace.group, moving toward an abundance society, and reducing harm without sacrificing human lives.
